In the ongoing trial related to SRC International, a crucial revelation emerged as asset recovery specialist Angela Barkhouse testified that there was no concrete evidence indicating that former Prime Minister Najib Razak had returned US$120 million to Tanore Finance Corporation. Disputing the defence counsel's suggestion, Barkhouse stated that she had not seen any documentary evidence to support the claim that the funds were returned in 2013.

During the proceedings, Najib's lawyer, Harvinderjit Singh, proposed that the US$120 million was part of a larger sum of US$620 million that was returned to Tanore through redemption. However, Barkhouse maintained that she had not come across any evidence to corroborate this assertion, emphasizing that the issue of the US$120 million was a separate matter.

The lawsuit filed by SRC International against Najib and its former CEO, Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, includes allegations of breach of trust and duty, as well as conspiring to convert company property for personal use. Initially, the lawsuit also involved six former directors as co-defendants, but the focus has since shifted solely to Najib and Nik Faisal.

In an interesting development, Barkhouse also shed light on the connection between Tanore and Low Taek Jho, commonly known as Jho Low. She acknowledged that Tan Kim Loong, who controlled Tanore, was an aide to Jho Low, based on information from a US Department of Justice (DoJ) lawsuit. However, Barkhouse clarified that she was not directly involved in the DoJ case.

As the trial unfolds, it remains a focal point for uncovering the truth behind these financial transactions and holding those responsible accountable for their actions. The court's decision in this case will undoubtedly have significant implications, not only for the individuals involved but also for broader issues of accountability and transparency in governance.

The hearing is scheduled to continue before Justice Ahmad Fairuz, with further testimony and evidence expected to provide more clarity on the intricate details of the case.
