Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah said there are no recruitment exercises by followers of the so-called Sultanate of Sulu in Sabah as reported by an NGO yesterday.

He said this in reference to online rumours that the purported Sulu heirs were actively recruiting residents in Lahad Datu.

“We take this issue seriously,” he said in a statement, here, Thursday.

He said that while police are investigating groups that provide “Sulu Sultaniyah Darul Islam” personal documents for a charge, their intelligence has proven that such recruitment does not occur in Sabah.
