Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the State Government will strengthen Sabah’s development agenda through the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 roadmap, continuing its drive to build a more advanced, competitive and prosperous state.
He said this is in line with the aspirations of this year’s National Day theme, “Malaysia Madani: Shared Prosperity”.
“The roadmap places emphasis on sustainable economic development, human capital empowerment, improved productivity, enhanced competitiveness, the adoption of innovation and technology, as well as inclusive development so that its benefits can be enjoyed by all Sabahans,” he said at the launch of the State-level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign at Menara Kinabalu, Saturday.
His speech was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister II and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“The State Government will continue to strengthen various initiatives that directly impact the people’s lives, including in the areas of education, welfare, housing, healthcare, rural development, the empowerment of women and youth, as well as the provision of better basic amenities.
“I am confident that with the spirit of togetherness, integrity in governance, close cooperation between the State and Federal Governments, and the unwavering support of the people, we can take Sabah further forward as a more advanced and prosperous state.
“Ultimately, the true measure of a government’s success is not what it has built, but the extent to which the people benefit from that development,” he said.
Hajiji said the launch of the State-level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign should not merely be viewed as a ceremonial event, but celebrated with a strong sense of patriotism.
“Let us all reflect on the true meaning of independence. Independence is not only freedom from colonial rule, but also freedom from the shackles of poverty and division. It is a precious gift that we must cherish and defend,” he said.
The Chief Minister said in the digital era, the people have greater opportunities to express their views and keep abreast of the State’s development.
“The State Government values every opinion and constructive criticism as a reflection of the people’s concern for Sabah’s future.
“However, all views should be expressed responsibly, based on verified facts and with the intention of building rather than dividing society. Let us make wise use of technology to disseminate accurate information, foster mutual understanding and strengthen unity,” he said.
He urged everyone to fly the national flag throughout the state with pride and patriotic spirit.
“May all Sabahans continue to stand united, work together and support one another for a brighter future for Sabah.
“Let this year’s celebration serve as a renewed commitment to building a more advanced and prosperous Sabah,” he said.
