'There is no Bangkok Move, no Dubai Move' - Barisan Nasional (BN) remains committed to continuing with the Unity Government until the end of the 15th parliamentary term, stressed BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He dismissed claims that there is an effort to topple the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and never intended to be involved in any such movement at all.
According to him, BN's commitment to be with the Unity Government was made after receiving the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decree when the government was formed, and that stance remains until the end of the 15th Parliament term.
“I have no intention at all. There is no Bangkok move, no Dubai move or anything. We hold on to that commitment.
“When we committed to being in the Unity Government on the decree of the Tuanku Agong, we were committed until the end of the 15th Parliament term. Full stop,” he said.
He said this when asked to comment on allegations that there was an effort to topple the Anwar-led government.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, said the people should not doubt BN's stance because the priority is to ensure that the country's political stability continues to be maintained.
"Let people say whatever they want.
"The important thing is, in our minds there is a thought that we must be together to create political stability and our souls must be sincere in this matter," he said.
Ahmad Zahid previously also said that there were no discussions or negotiations to allow for a change of government and that the current administration would continue until the 16th General Election (GE16).
He stressed that the claims about efforts to change the government were untrue, in addition to denying that there had been a meeting between the leaders of BN, Perikatan Nasional (PN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) as alleged.
He said that the party's stance was that it remained in support of the Unity Government until GE16, based on the previously agreed decision. – July 23, 2026
