
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Timber Industries Association (STIA) has called for an assurance from the State government via relevant authorities to come up with a concrete long-term and short-term measures to make sure the Tawau port congestion that happened since April until May 22, would not recur.
Its President Tan Peng Juan said the STIA members especially the traders and exporters are demanding for immediate proactive steps and back-up plans to resolve existing issues at the port to prevent future recurrences of port congestion.
He said they are calling upon Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd (SPSB) and Sabah Port Authority to implement sustainable lasting solutions that could ensure improvement in port facilities especially at Tawau Port.
