MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has thumbed down the request of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla to extend the term of Calabarzon police chief Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan by a year.
“No extension for General Marantan,” Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said in Filipino in a briefing on Thursday.
Marantan will reach the mandatory retirement age of 56 on July 10.
Remulla said his continued service is vital to "ensure continuity in the execution of critical and ongoing high-impact operations."
The Palace however rejected his appeal.
“He (Marantan) can help through other means,” Castro said.
