No thief would hide stolen funds in party account: Peja

KUALA LUMPUR – A “thief” would not hide stolen funds in plain sight, such as in the bank accounts of a political party, for safekeeping, Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said.

Malaysiakini quoted him saying this in his continued defence of Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who was slapped with six counts of corruption in court today.

Faizal said the Pagoh MP had not breached any laws, much less acted in such an absurd manner.

“As a layman, it makes no sense that a thief would keep stolen money in a political party’s bank account.

“Realistically, that wouldn’t happen, but we will not interfere with the court,” Faizal was quoted as saying by the news portal.

He was speaking to reporters at Menara PGRM here today after attending the party’s annual general assembly.

Earlier today, Muhyiddin claimed trial to four charges of abuse of power amounting to RM232.5 million and two charges of receiving RM195 million in illicit funds.

Faizal also Bersatu members are behind their president and will fight “tyranny and oppression” at every turn.

Muhyiddin is also expected to face another charge on Monday. – The Vibes, March 10, 2023
