Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan denied it entered into an electoral pact with Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) following speculation on social media.
Warisan Deputy President Datuk Darell Leiking said he received many inquiries from journalists, party members and the public regarding a Facebook post on Feb 13, which suggested that an agreement had been reached between Warisan and Sabah BN.
Advertisement“I would like to clarify that there is no electoral understanding between Warisan and Sabah BN, nor with any other political party, involving State Assembly seats as claimed in the post,” he said in a statement, Friday.
Leiking stressed that discussions on potential electoral cooperation had never been brought before Warisan’s Supreme Council or Political Bureau.

He also pointed to the recent political developments, suggesting that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor might be keen on working with Sabah BN.
Leiking referred to Hajiji’s speech at Parti Bersatu Sabah’s 39th Annual General Assembly on Oct 29, 2024 where Hajiji stated that GRS was open to discussions with Sabah BN.
Advertisement“With Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah already committed to working with GRS, it is unsurprising that Hajiji would also want Sabah BN to be part of the coalition. All of this is ultimately to ensure that GRS continues to govern the State,” he said.
