Former Pejuang deputy president, Datuk Marzuki Yahya, has strongly denied any involvement of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in a movement aimed at toppling the government called the 'Dubai Move.' Marzuki explained that it was impossible for Dr Mahathir to be part of any secretive meeting with unity government MPs and Perikatan Nasional leaders in the UAE since he has not traveled abroad in recent weeks.

Marzuki expressed his regret regarding the behavior of certain parties within the unity government who attempted to link Dr Mahathir to the Dubai Move speculation, deeming it baseless.

He emphasized that if the movement had any connection to Dr Mahathir, it would be inaccurate and unfounded. Marzuki confirmed that Dr Mahathir had not been abroad for the past few weeks, with his most recent trip being to Langkawi. Deputy director-general of the Community Communications Department, Datuk Ismail Yusop, had earlier claimed the existence of a secret plan involving an influential veteran political figure with the title of Tun to overthrow Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's government.

Marzuki further commented on the matter, suggesting that the unity government exaggerated the Dubai Move speculation as a means to divert attention from the various issues they were facing. Marzuki argued that if the alleged plot to topple the government was indeed orchestrated by the Opposition coalition, holding a meeting in a location as distant as West Asia would not be necessary.

He pointed out that if the government was meant to fall, the Mamak Shop Move (a figurative reference to a local gathering place) would be enough for the Opposition to work on. Marzuki questioned why the current government was not fully focusing on addressing pressing issues that directly affected the people's interests, such as the rising cost of living. In Marzuki's view, the excessive suspicion of the Opposition and the fear of losing the prime ministership might have prompted Datuk Seri Anwar to utilize all available government machinery to fabricate a narrative aimed at suppressing the Opposition.

He urged the government to prioritize resolving urgent issues, rather than engaging in smear campaigns or diverting attention through the Dubai Move speculation. In summary, Marzuki Yahya strongly denied Dr Mahathir's involvement in the Dubai Move, highlighting that the former prime minister had not traveled abroad in recent weeks.

He criticized the unity government for associating Dr Mahathir with the speculations and suggested that the Dubai Move was exaggerated to divert attention from pressing issues. Marzuki questioned the government's focus and speculated about their motives behind using government machinery to suppress the Opposition.
