Kota Kinabalu: The consumer association in Sabah said the updated Budi Diesel mechanism allowing subsidy eligibility to be transferred to immediate family members or actual users is a practical, people-friendly adjustment.
Yayasan Pengguna Negara Malaysia (YPNM) Sabah chairman David Chan said the revision proves the government is listening to public feedback and refining policies to suit real-life needs.
“Policies that understand the rakyat’s struggles bring meaningful relief.
“This change ensures subsidies reach those who truly need them,” David stated.
Many households share vehicles registered under one family member’s name for work, business, education and daily travel, he added.
According to David, the new rule removes unnecessary barriers and ensures genuine beneficiaries are not left out.
He added the adjustment will greatly ease the financial burden, especially for the B40 and M40 groups grappling with rising transport and living costs.
“It strikes the right balance between keeping the system targeted and ensuring law-abiding families get the support they deserve,” he said.
