TAN Sri Noh Omar has announced his resignation as a member of the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) with immediate effect.
He cited disappointment over what he described as the party's failure to comply with its own constitutional process.
Noh said his decision was made after the party's MPT meeting on January 12, which decided to suspend all disciplinary actions, but the party's disciplinary board is alleged to still be pursuing action against members.
"At this stage, I would like to express my disappointment with what happened in Bersatu today," he said.
Noh questioned the disciplinary action that was still being taken despite the MPT's decision, raising questions about whether the disciplinary board respected the authority of the party's highest decision-making body.
"The MPT has decided that all disciplinary actions should be suspended. The question is, why is the disciplinary board continuing with the action? Does the disciplinary board not respect the MPT's decision?" he said.
Noh also questioned the disciplinary action taken against Indera Mahkota MP, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, which raised questions about consistency and fairness in the party.
He said he personally advised Saifuddin not to continue with the planned tour program in Pahang, and Saifuddin agreed and cancelled the program.
"I understand his intention, but I advised him not to continue with the tour. He respected the advice and cancelled the program.
"Unfortunately, Datuk Seri Saifuddin has been sacked. At that point, we were still not really clear on the direction regarding disciplinary action," he said.
Noh said disciplinary action should take into account the time frame of an event and the spirit of party unity, stressing that the decision should not be seen as selective or contradictory.
He said disciplinary action should only be taken against members who violated the party's decision made after the January meeting, not against those who made statements before that.
"Two issues that must be clearly understood. For those who were accused of violating party discipline before January 12 (the MPT decision), we have 'closed the book'.
"However, if there are members who make statements after the decision, then I agree that action can be taken for violating the MPT's instructions," he said.
Noh said disciplinary action must always be carried out in accordance with the party's constitution and rules.
"That is my principle. No one is above the law. Everyone is bound by the constitution and rules," he said. – February 14, 2026
