NorthPort has completed key structural segments of Pier 14 ahead of schedule as part of its three-year terminal modernization program.

NorthPort finished structural works on the second and third 42.5-meter segments of Pier 14. These upgrades reinforce the Terminal 1 wharf and improve seismic resilience. As of February, work transitioned to the fourth and final 52.5-meter segment.

Current activities include resurfacing the deck and repairing above-deck damage to prevent structural deterioration. NorthPort is also replacing the 700 mm fender system with 1000 mm cell fenders to support safer vessel berthing.

Engineers carry out these upgrades in parallel with terminal operations to minimize disruptions to cargo and passenger movements. This strategy ensures that domestic supply chains remain active while NorthPort strengthens its infrastructure.

As the primary domestic gateway at the Port of Manila, NorthPort links the capital to the archipelago through passenger transport, interisland shipping, and container handling. These improvements secure its role as a central logistics hub.

The modernization program supports long-term trade growth and ensures reliable operations for all port users. Strengthening the wharf allows the terminal to manage increasing cargo volumes and future maritime demands.

NorthPort will complete the remaining phases of the upgrade program by 2027. These ongoing investments maintain its status as the country's premier domestic cargo terminal.
