Norway and Manchester City star Erling Haaland was booed by his own fans during defeat to Scotland.

Haaland scored a penalty to open the scoring for his side, before coming off later in the game.

Scotland, despite being under the cosh for much of the contest, won 2-1 thanks to two quick fire goals late in the contest.

Haaland was booed as he got on the team bus post-game, having been unable to complete the full contest due to fatigue.

"He asked to be changed," coach Stale Stolbakken told reporters.

"We kept him on the pitch 10-12 minutes longer. In the last few minutes he was on the field, we played with one less man.

He was completely empty. He has only played 60 minutes several times before.

"We're talking about it being 30 degrees, it's applied. He ran out of steam."
