THE Johor State Legislative Assembly (DUN) notice for June 22, received and shared by Johor Jaya Assemblyman, Liow Cai Tung, has raised various questions.
According to the DAP assemblyman, it is considered unusual since Johor State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sessions are rarely held consecutively within two months.
Liow also questioned what the main purpose of the state assembly session was, because all 56 Johor state assemblymen had convened early last month.
“This morning, received a meeting notice for the Johor state assembly session. There has never been a two-month consecutive assembly session. This time, it is only ‘one day’. There is no question-and-answer session.
"So, what is the agenda of the assembly session this time? Let's guess and see," he said on his Facebook page.
On May 22, the Deputy Speaker of the Johor State Assembly, Datuk Samsolbari Jamali, refused to confirm rumours that the special DUN session would be held.
The Johor assembly will dissolve automatically in April next year if elections are not called earlier, with polls required within 60 days of dissolution.
Barisan Nasional formed the Johor government after winning 40 of the 56 seats in the 2022 state election.
Pakatan Harapan won 12 seats while Perikatan Nasional secured three and Muda one.
Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi previously declared that the Barisan Nasional coalition will contest all 56 seats in the state, notwithstanding its cooperation with Pakatan Harapan in the federal administration. – May 29, 2026
