Sungai Besar UMNO division chief Jamal Yunos has shared uplifting personal news, announcing that he is now free of Stage 4 cancer. Diagnosed three years ago, his illness reportedly began in the lungs and later spread to his brain and other parts of the body. After months of intensive treatment, medical specialists are said to have found no remaining traces of the disease.
In his statement, Jamal expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone who supported him through the ordeal, including friends and Malaysians who offered prayers and encouragement. His health challenges became public earlier this year when he was hospitalized in March due to the cancer's progression to his brain. His condition had been deteriorating since 2022, but recent updates suggest a remarkable recovery.
However, following his announcement, Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok used the moment to issue a firm reminder. She congratulated Jamal but also highlighted his unresolved legal obligation, urging him to settle the legal fees owed to her lawyer as instructed by the court.
This stems from a long-standing defamation case filed by Teresa in 2017. The case involved allegations made by Jamal, accusing her of misappropriating funds from the Selangor Warisan Anak Foundation, linked to the state’s Skim Mesra Usia Emas welfare program. The claims were later found to be baseless.
Now, as Jamal Yonus celebrates a major personal milestone, the legal matter in the case resurfaces, underscoring that while personal health battles may be won, outstanding legal responsibilities remain to be addressed.
