Surely you can feel the excitement of the fast-approaching Lunar New Year of the Rabbit in the air. Whether you are celebrating it or not, with just a little over two days to go the radio advertisements, TV commercials and even that short TikTok video now serving on your personal device will remind you so.
There are indeed many different commercials taking different approaches, mostly adopting fun and laughter but it is the ones that pull at the heartstrings unlocking the tear glands that stay in the head for many years. Such was made possible thanks to the creative mind of the late Yasmin Ahmad. Who can forget the ads that remind us of our filial duties, the amah in the retirement home sheepishly listening as her friends talk about their successful children? Came to her turn, she said her son was just only keen to take her along for his trips and never failed to pick her up whereas her friends could only look on in hope for their successful rich children who left them at the home to turn up instead.
Serving up these commercials is not an easy task, from concept to delivery. Finding the right talents, getting the right theme, you get it. It's not a simple job for sure.
No matter how difficult the task seems to be, TM's Unifi has not failed to bring me to tears each time I have to deal with them! No need for festive CNY ads to help me, just calling and getting in touch with Unifi is enough. In fact, I don't even have an Unifi account. With today's tech and apps, one would think a telecommunications company would have aced this for sure.
My wife had voiced her frustration, as her father had endured an entire day lamenting the fact that his phone line had gone dead (You know what they say, a happy wife means a happy life. There's still hope for those of you not married, look, listen and learn!) Her many attempts in trying to log in to a report via her Unifi App failed, and all I could see was the 'refreshing' icon that really just goes on and on and on. Have you tried calling them on the phone? Ya, let's not get into that!
Unsuccessful with the app while not being having the patience to be put on hold. I tried Twitter. A short sweet message PM'd to the official Unifi 'help me' verified account. It solicited this response, 'Hi, we are sorry as we are experiencing high interaction volume at the moment. We will get back to you as soon as we can. Meanwhile, if you are currently having difficulties with your unifi connection, you can try EasyFix at easyfix.unifi.com.my'. STOP, please STOP. The easy fix is anything but easy, and it doesn't FIX! Trust me, those tears of frustration rolled!

Anyways, 20 minutes later they replied to my DM and 'with very much regret and sincerest of apologies' they thanked me for my message which included the full details of the AC holder, number, name and also mobile tel number for Unifi to get in touch with.
I even left them a message to get in touch with the account holder directly.
Lo and behold what did I get in my inbox this morning? Another message replying with regrets and apology due to high volume interaction followed by another describing that the Twitter account was actually operated by the social media team (no kidding Sherlock!) and that they have... You got to cry when you read this... "NO ACCESS TO MAKE OR RECEIVE CALLS". They further asked me to get the account holder to PM or DM them here instead. Did they ever think for a moment, that if that could have been done, would have been already?? Sheesh...now I am sobbing!
What does this all mean? If you need to shed that tear and don't have access to the late Yasmin Ahmad's sure-serving tears commercials, try to reach Unifi. You are bet to not only shed tears of bloody frustration, but you might just have no more tears by the time they reply. Customer services in Malaysia have certainly served a real new low. Press#1 to self-serve. Press#2 if you do not get a response. Thank you for Pressing #2. Now Press #1 to self-serve.
Now Serving #CNY2023. May the year of the Rabbit bring you an abundance of joy and wealth with a generous sprinkling of love and health! To let the Rabbit do this, stay away from Unifi!
