The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Saturday demanded the resignation of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar after his son was allegedly booked under the POSCO Act.

The organisation said that it strongly condemns the growing pattern of leaders associated with the BJP and its alliance ecosystem being repeatedly linked to serious allegations of sexual assault, crimes against women, and cases under the POCSO Act.

“NSUI believes that when the son of a sitting minister in the Ministry of Home Affairs faces allegations under a law meant to protect minors, the matter cannot be treated as ordinary politics. A fair and impartial investigation is impossible while the accused’s father continues to hold a position in the Home Ministry. This is not an isolated incident," it said in a statement.

The BJP repeatedly claims to stand for “Beti Bachao”, but whenever allegations emerge involving powerful individuals linked to their political structure, silence and protection become their first response.

NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar said, “If the daughter of an ordinary family cannot expect justice when the accused belongs to the family of a Union Home Ministry minister, then what message is the government sending to the country? NSUI demands the immediate resignation of Bandi Sanjay Kumar from the post of Minister of State for Home Affairs. Until he resigns, there can be no confidence in a free and fair investigation.”

“The BJP cannot preach ‘Beti Bachao’ while protecting those connected to power. Justice must be equal for every daughter of this country,” he added.

NSUI announces nationwide protests against Bandi Sanjay Kumar and the BJP government’s continued hypocrisy on women’s safety and accountability.
