SANDAKAN: The nude body of a 15-year-old girl, believed to be a murder victim, was found in a squatter area in Kg Forest, Batu 1½, Tuesday morning.
District Police Chief ACP Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said his personnel received information from villagers at 10am.
“Arriving at the location, we found the body of a teenage girl in a bushy and muddy area,” he said in a statement. The victim is believed to be a foreigner.
At around 12.30pm the same day, the police detained a 22-year-old foreigner near the scene to assist in investigations.
Abdul Fuad urged those with information to contact police to help with the investigation.
He also advised the public not to make any speculations or circulate pictures of the victim’s body so as not to affect the investigation.
The victim’s body was sent to the Duchess of Kent Hospital here for an autopsy.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
