In today’s fast-paced digital economy, nurturing young talents to be future-ready and equipping them with the skills, passion, resilience and determination to reach for greater heights is increasingly crucial, as they become leaders of tomorrow. To become a future leader, it is also important to shape their leadership potential based on a strong foundation of integrity and moral values, aligned with societal purpose, and the organisation’s vision and objectives.
With the shift in global demographics and workforce dynamics, the younger generation is growing up in an environment of rapid advancement of technology, where information and knowledge is available at the touch of a button. Testimony of a Scholar

For Esther Sing Jie Xin, a young student from Subang Jaya, Selangor, being able to complete her Bachelor of International Hospitality Management degree programme from Taylor’s University was a dream come true and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity offered by the scholarship greatly assisted her in excelling in her studies.
She added, "This scholarship was a financial stepping stone for me as my father has resigned from his work. Pursuing a degree in Taylor’s equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge that I believe will assist me in serving OSK well. I also did some research about the OSK’s businesses before I applied for this scholarship to have a better understanding of the organisation that I wanted to serve after my graduation.”
Speaking about her first career experience at Swiss-Garden Hotel Kuantan, she is still actively learning in her workplace, but at the same time she actively seeks out opportunities to acquire new skills and broaden her horizons. "Throughout my three months of work in OSK, I have learned many things and dealt with various clients. These experiences have allowed me to develop strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Personally, the OSK Foundation Scholarship has been a vital opportunity for me to realise my aspirations and equip me with the necessary knowledge and skills to help drive meaningful impact for the company, especially in the hotel industry," added the youngest of two siblings.
"The scholarship eased my family’s financial burden,” she said, adding that the scholarship programme gave her the confidence to achieve her ambition, set an example for others, and be an advocate for positive change.
Talking about her leadership style, she agrees that good leadership can create a positive work environment, enhance customer satisfaction, and drive overall revenue for the company since it involves managing and guiding fellow colleagues to provide exceptional customer service.

“I enjoy doing marketing as it has direct impact on the financial performance of the company and market the hospitality asset to the world. Further, I hope that I would be able make a mark for myself in the field of Marketing and Communications within the hospitality industry,” said the shy girl, formerly from SJK (C) Tun Tan Cheng Lock in Subang Jaya.
Esther is not alone in her transformation journey. Her success story is shared by other fellow OSK Foundation scholars who are realising their potential, and over time, transform into a community of changemakers and future leaders wherever they go. This forms part of the societal value that the Foundation aims to deliver, as a longstanding commitment to create a better, brighter tomorrow for Malaysia.
Moving forward, OSK Foundation plans to extend its scholarship programme for B40 students who are pursuing studies in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) at local public learning institutions. The scholarship aims to broaden its life-changing opportunities to more young Malaysians who wish to attain higher technical or vocational qualification, and build their own careers in the TVET field.
