In a timely address at the 172nd Perak Dewan Negara Meeting held at Istana Iskandariah, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, highlighted the growing concern surrounding the issues of religion, royalty, and race (3R) in Malaysia. Emphasizing the potential ramifications of sensationalism and politicization of these matters, Sultan Nazrin underscored the necessity for concerted efforts to prevent further escalation and ensure the country's stability, developmental progress, and economic prosperity.

With a call for immediate action, Sultan Nazrin urged members of the Dewan Negara and Orang Besar Jajahan (territorial chiefs) to play a proactive role in curbing the spread of divisive sentiments. He suggested that the Orang Besar Jajahan collaborate closely with mosque committees and officials, engaging in open discussions and meetings within their respective regions. The primary objective would be to foster unity among the populace and discourage the propagation of discord.

To effectively manage and address sensationalized issues concerning 3R, Sultan Nazrin advocated for a system wherein such concerns are promptly brought to his attention for guidance. If necessary, these issues should be reported to relevant authorities and legislative bodies, ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to mitigate their impact on society.

Recognizing the pivotal role of education in promoting unity and loyalty, Sultan Nazrin commended an ongoing program titled 'Menyemai Semangat Kesetiaan kepada Raja dan Negara' (instilling loyalty to the monarch and the country), co-organized by Dewan Negara Perak and the state Education Department. The program seeks to nurture allegiance to the monarch and the nation, receiving positive responses from students. Sultan Nazrin encouraged leaders and dignitaries, the Orang-orang Besar, to actively engage with educators and participate in co-curricular events, thereby supporting initiatives that foster racial harmony and national unity.

Addressing the burgeoning youth population, Sultan Nazrin acknowledged their importance as a significant demographic. He urged the Orang Besar Jajahan to connect with the youth through open dialogues and discussions, guiding them with advice and offering support for their activities. By nurturing the younger generation's sense of responsibility and belonging, these efforts would contribute to their growth as valuable citizens.

In a related ceremony, Sultan Nazrin appointed the members of the Perak Fatwa Committee for the year. The committee includes esteemed individuals such as Perak Mufti Datuk Wan Zahidi Wan as the chairman, Perak Deputy Mufti Datuk Zamri Hashim, and state Islamic Religious Department director Harith Fadzilah Abdul Halim as members. Notable individuals appointed to the committee include Datuk As’ad Awang, Associate Professor Mohamed Fairooz Abdul Khir, Associate Professor Lukman Abdul Mutalib, Muhammad Ayman Al-Akiti, Azmil Zainal Abidin, Muhammad Adib Samsudin, and Engku Ahmad Fadzil Engku Ali.

Sultan Nazrin's address resounds as a clarion call to prioritize unity and stability in Malaysia, urging proactive measures to address divisive issues and nurture a sense of loyalty among citizens. Through collaboration, education, and engagement with the youth, the nation can aspire to safeguard its harmony and progress.
