PKR Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar said Pakatan Harapan (PH) has been receiving an encouraging response from Sabah voters as campaigning intensifies for the 17th Sabah state election. She noted that voters across the state appeared receptive to PH’s message, attributing the warm reception partly to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent visit and the federal government’s emphasis on Sabah’s economic priorities even before the campaign began.
Speaking during a walkabout at the Donggongon Visitor Centre in Penampang, Nurul Izzah described Sabahans as friendly and open to evaluating PH’s proposals based on factual performance and policy delivery. She expressed gratitude for what she viewed as an overwhelmingly positive reaction from voters, particularly as PH continues to highlight its implementation track record ahead of polling day.
As PH’s Joint Election Campaign Director, she stressed that the coalition’s role does not end after ballots are cast. Instead, she said the real work begins after the campaign, highlighting the importance of continuous service and long-term problem-solving for Sabahans. She noted that not every challenge can be resolved overnight, but PH intends to demonstrate consistent commitment beyond election season.
Nurul Izzah spent more than an hour engaging with traders and visitors, many of whom greeted her warmly, took photographs, and recorded videos during the visit. The crowd also surprised her by singing a birthday song to mark her special day.
The 17th Sabah state election will see polling take place on November 29, with early voting scheduled for November 25. According to Election Commission (EC) data, a total of 1,784,843 voters are eligible to cast their ballots. This includes 1,760,417 ordinary voters, 11,697 military personnel and spouses, and 12,729 police personnel and spouses.
Nurul Izzah reiterated PH’s appeal for voters to make decisions based on facts and demonstrable progress. The coalition, she said, intends to contest with the aim of fulfilling promises and maintaining a clear track record of governance.
As campaigning intensifies, she continues to emphasize that PH’s approach is rooted not just in rhetoric but in service delivery and long-term commitment to Sabah’s development and well-being.
