Support is rapidly growing within Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) for Nurul Izzah Anwar to contest the party's deputy presidency in the upcoming internal elections, with notable endorsements surfacing from across the country.

Perak PKR’s information chief, Mohd Noorazam Shah Ahmad Afandi, is among the latest to back her potential candidacy. He emphasized that Nurul Izzah’s contributions to PKR date back to the Reformasi movement of 1998, highlighting her commitment, strong moral compass, and dedication to institutional reform. Noorazam argued that her candidacy transcends her legacy as the daughter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, saying she embodies the values and leadership qualities PKR needs to navigate current and future challenges.

Izzah, a former PKR vice-president and two-term Member of Parliament, has already announced her intention to vie for one of the vice-president posts in the party elections scheduled for May 24. Yet, many in the party believe she should aim higher.

Backers from Melaka, including five division leaders—Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin (Hang Tuah Jaya), Mohd Khuzaire Mohd Kamal Kannan (Alor Gajah), Azlan Osman (Tangga Batu), R. Jagatheason (Jasin), and Md Yusoff Ahmad (Kota Melaka)—have issued a joint statement in her favor. They praised her courage and advocacy for human rights, social justice, and progressive politics, calling her a unifying force who represents PKR’s founding ideals.

Echoing these sentiments, Johor PKR Youth vice-president Muhammad Faezuddin Mohd Puad stressed the symbolic and strategic significance of her leadership bid. He said Izzah’s presence at the top would not only reinforce the party’s reformist agenda but also advance gender representation in leadership.

In Pahang, state PKR chairman Rizal Jamin also threw his support behind Izzah, describing her as "Puteri Reformasi" and a true veteran of the party’s long struggle for reform.

These endorsements come amid growing speculation about the future of the current deputy president, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, whose influence has been questioned following setbacks faced by his allies in recent division-level contests.

Adding to the intrigue, PKR’s Titiwangsa division chief Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman has suggested that former secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail should take over the role—though Saifuddin has yet to confirm whether he’ll enter the race.
