Steve Bruce wants Newcastle United to change their mentality after Sunday's 1-1 draw with Wolves.

The Magpies went ahead in the first half at St. James' Park thanks to a terrific header from captain Jamaal Lascelles.

But a mistake from Toon goalkeeper Martin Dubravka allowed Jonny Castro to grab an equaliser for the visitors.

Sean Longstaff was shown a red card late on for a high challenge on Ruben Neves.

Speaking after the game, Bruce was disappointed his side were unable to take all three points.

He said: "Is it a mentality thing? Possibly. But we have to try to change that mentality. We spoke about it at half-time, to win the second half.

"We just sat in, and sat in, and looked to protect what we had. In the Premier League that's always difficult, you've got to try to pose as threat yourself, like we did in the first half. In the second half, we just didn't do enough."

Bruce continued: "It's an opportunity (missed). Second half we hadn't done enough at all. When the red card comes, we try an protect what we have.

"It's harsh (the red). The behaviour of Neves is another thing. When they're rolling around like that, you know they're not hurt.

"He's not in control of the ball but how's he supposed to be? I think it's harsh. I can't see us appealing it. I'll have a look. If possible, we'll have a look."
