Oasis have confirmed the date of an upcoming tour announcement by using a drone light show in Manchester.
Taking place over the Joie Stadium, home to Manchester City Women at the Etihad Campus on Thursday night, the display lit up the band’s logo before replacing it with the date 14/09/26 and the time 4pm BST.
The band, who reformed for the successful Live ’25 tour last year following their split in 2009, have recently been dropping hints about potential tour venues across social media channels.
Liam and Noel Gallagher discussed their reunion in the new documentary Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger, which was released on Wednesday.
Written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, the project is part concert film and part documentary, following the band on their reunion tour that began in Cardiff in July last year.
It also features the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam in more than 20 years following their 2009 split.
Other possible locations the band have hinted at include the Etihad Stadium, Celtic Park and Knebworth – where they played to 250,000 people in 1996 during their Britpop heyday.
Rumours of a follow-up to the Manchester rockers’ 2025 reunion tour have been rife in recent weeks, but no dates or venues had been formally announced prior to Thursday’s display.
Even before the 2025 tour concluded, fans predicted that Oasis would be keen to get back out on the road again, given the run of shows were a defining cultural event – as well as a very lucrative one.
Oasis Live ‘25 was estimated by Forbes to have generated over $400m (£293m) in revenue, with Noel and Liam each pocketing between $50m-$100m. As a result, the pair cracked the Sunday Times Rich List this year with a combined net worth of $375m.
Contrary to tabloid media reports, sources told The Independent that the mood backstage during Oasis’s 2025 reunion was jubilant, with both Noel and Liam in great spirits as their famous friends – from football stars to pop singers, including Manchester City star Jack Grealish and the Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder – rubbed elbows.
“It’s been a proper love-in backstage,” one source said. “There’s a friends and family bar which is basically free booze – Guinness on draft (of course) (sic), beer, wine and champagne. It’s like going to a wedding every night.”
Sources have also said that Noel has been writing new music – it remains to be seen if this will emerge in the shape of the first Oasis album since 2008’s Dig Out Your Soul, with Liam on vocal duties.
The band have had eight UK number one singles and eight UK number one albums, with “Wonderwall”, “Don’t Look Back In Anger” and “Roll With It” among their best-known hits.
