Vikas Hira, appointed by the state Election Commission as Election Observer for the general elections to the Patti Nagar Council and the Bhikhiwind Nagar Panchayat, reviewed the election process on Saturday.
Hira monitored the ongoing nomination process at Patti and Bhikhiwind on the final day for filing nominations for the elections.
Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements, he directed the officials concerned to ensure that scrutiny of nomination papers was conducted with complete transparency and fairness. He said each nomination should be examined thoroughly to avoid any controversy in future.
The observer also instructed the officials concerned to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission to ensure that the entire electoral process remained free, fair and transparent.
He expressed confidence that the election process would be completed smoothly, and that peaceful and fair polls would be conducted.

During his visit, Hira met District Election Officer Rahul and reviewed the preparations made by the district administration to ensure free and transparent elections. Patti SDM Amandeep and Bhikhiwind SDM Jagdeep Singh were among those present during the review meeting.
