OCEAN Network Express (ONE) is expanding its global presence with the launch of a new direct shipping route connecting West Africa to major international trade lanes, the company announced Monday, July 6.
The new Mediterranean Africa Express Service (MAX) is aiming to address growing trade demands and increasingly complex global supply chains.
The weekly service will operate on a port rotation covering Algeciras, Tangier, Dakar, Tema, Lekki (Lagos), and Abidjan, before returning to Algeciras. By leveraging ONE’s established transshipment hubs in Algeciras and Tangier, the service will link West African markets to Far East Asia, Northern Europe, the Indian subcontinent, North America, and Latin America.
Company officials said the launch comes in response to rising demand from shippers for reliable transit times and more flexible routing options in and out of West Africa.
“We are committed to investment and growth in Africa,” said Tomohiro Hosaka, managing director of ONE (Europe). “The MAX service is a vital addition to our network, strengthening the links between West Africa and key global trade routes while providing our customers with seamless access to ONE’s extensive international network.”
Headquartered in Singapore, ONE is one of the world’s largest liner shipping companies, operating a fleet of more than 280 vessels with a total capacity exceeding 2.2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The carrier currently provides container shipping services to more than 120 countries.
