DAP adviser Lim Guan Eng has called on state party veteran Datuk Seri Phee Boon Poh to offer solutions to issues instead of keeping mum when confronted with grouses from the people.
In view of his remarks last week, where Phee urged all party leaders to stop the open criticism of the DAP-led state government, Lim said that Phee should focus on resolving issues which have lingered on.
"Phee needs to assist the state in resolving the controversy and certain projects, such as the Jelutong Landfill site. It measures 34 ha and is valued at RM 1 billion. This is excluding the proposed 28ha addition of reclaimed land in front of the Karpal Singh Drive," Lim said in a social media post.
As elected representatives, it is their job to defend the voters who voted for them; to defend their interests and rights, such as the proposed hike in water tariffs, quit rent or any other issues, said Lim.

"If Phee wants all DAP assemblymen to stop becoming the voice of the people, then he must become a catalyst to resolve issues. One of the main issues now is the one confronting the Karpal Singh Drive residents," said Lim.
If Phee has the time and convictions to issue a public statement, then he should likewise have the time to resolve issues and controversies, too.
Because the Jelutong landfill issue began when Phee was a state executive councillor in charge of the environment, said Lim.
"He played a crucial role in mooting the rehabilitation of the project; he should be able to find ways to resolve the matter."
Phee was a state exco member from 2008 until 2023, Lim noted. - May 21, 2026.
