The cancellation of the Good Vibes Festival (GVF) has been making all the headlines over the past couple of days after the actions of the English Pop-rock band The 1975’s frontman Matty Healy caused global headlines.

The majority of people are understandably extremely displeased and have shown their anger towards the band and Matty by leaving negative comments on their Instagram accounts,

However, some people seem to have decided to turn the issue into a way to mock Malaysia once again. Infamous Singaporean comedian Jocelyn Chia who had previously made global headlines after her tasteless joke on MH370 took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the matter.

In a post which included the BBC article on her actions and Matty’s actions, Chia wrote, “Malaysia figured out the formula for making world news. Massively overreact to foreign acts + minister level criticism = (BBC + CNN +ABC + CBS) to the power of IG, Twitter, Threads, Facebook).”

“I was catapulted to the front page of CNN and the BBC when the Malaysian police requested Interpol for assistance in locating me and now Malaysia has made news again for canceling an entire music festival and banning The 1975.”

“Ironically, they are also offering a formula for artists to get more fame (I’ve not heard of this singer or the band until now, and neither had my new found fans heard of me until Malaysia kicked up a fuss). So if Malaysia wants to stop making artists they disapprove of more famous, they need to chill,” she added.

She concluded the post by cheekily suggesting that perhaps Matty Healy had decided to do this after seeing her on the front page of BBC News.

Although netizens previously bombarded the post with negative comments, she has since limited the number of comments.
