KOTA KINABALU: A Road Transport Department (RTD) enforcement assistant was brought to the Special Corruption Court on charges of accepting bribes to issue driving licences without the candidates taking tests.

Mohd Shah Baz Khan Abdul Wahid, 39, pleaded not guilty to the two counts when the charges were read before Judge Jason Juga.

He was accused of receiving RM800 through his wife’s bank account on April 26, 2022 in return for granting a licence to a woman without her undergoing an RTD test.

In the second charge, he allegedly pocketed RM1,200 on Oct 6, 2022 through the same account for issuing another licence to a man.

Charged under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009, he was offered bail of RM10,000 with RM2,000 to be deposited in one surety, with a mention fixed for Oct 9.
