A SENIOR police officer in Pahang has been placed under a five-day remand to assist investigations into allegations that he received approximately RM64,000 in bribes linked to the protection of illegal entertainment premises in the state.
The remand order, which runs until 2 May, was issued by Magistrate Ellyna Mahussin after the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) applied for the detention at the Kuantan Magistrates’ Court.
According to sources, the male suspect, believed to be in his 50s, was arrested at his home at about 2pm yesterday.
Early investigations suggest the alleged offences occurred between 2020 and 2023 while he was serving at a district police post in Pahang.
Investigators believe the officer received monthly payments from two nightclub operators, with the funds allegedly transferred directly into his personal bank account in return for protection from enforcement action.
“The suspect is believed to have received monthly bribes from two nightclub operators through money transfers into his personal bank account,” the source said.
Pahang MACC director Mohd Shukor Mahmud confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.- April 28, 2026
