Kuala Lumpur: OGAWA Malaysia, well known for producing world-class massage chairs and wellness technologies, is looking beyond the traditional massage chair as it taps the growing interest in biohacking, combining wellness, technology and personalisation in its latest push to make recovery part of everyday life.
The move comes as consumers face longer working hours, more sedentary lifestyles, higher stress levels and increasingly demanding exercise routines. For OGAWA, these changes are putting recovery on a more equal footing with performance and fitness.

"Recovery is part of performance. If we want to perform better tomorrow, we need to recover better today," the director of OGAWA Malaysia , Leong Boon Hong said.
Biohacking was once largely associated with elite athletes and technology enthusiasts, but the concept is gaining wider attention as consumers look for practical ways to improve sleep, manage stress, recover from physical activity and maintain their overall wellbeing.
For OGAWA, the shift is an extension of its 30-year presence in the wellness industry rather than a change in direction.
"In the past 30 years, our focus has always been wellness. We started with a simple purpose, that is, to deliver wellness for everyone, everywhere. But the way people think about wellness is changing. Today, consumers are becoming more proactive.
"They don't only want to relax when they are tired; they want to understand their bodies, optimise their recovery and maintain better wellbeing. We see biohacking as the next evolution of wellness," Boon Hong said.
The company is putting that thinking into its latest product, the OGAWA Maestro Powered by Overseer, which combines massage technology with Overseer AI and graphene technology.
