Kuala Lumpur: The 21st edition of Oil and Gas Asia (OGA) opens next week at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre with a sold-out exhibition floor, reflecting the surging momentum in Southeast Asia’s energy sector as the region positions itself to meet 25 per cent of global energy demand growth.
Held from September 2-4, the three-day event will host 2,000 local and international companies across seven halls under the theme “Powering Progress, Shaping Tomorrow”.
The exhibition spans 20,000 square meters and builds on last year’s record-breaking attendance that saw 29 per cent growth in participants.
The timing coincides with Malaysia’s Asean chairmanship and a wave of regional energy initiatives, including the acceleration of the Asean Power Grid and expanded renewable energy adoption.
Industry analysts project the region’s offshore gas market alone will reach $100 billion, driven by $30 billion in investments over the next two years, with Malaysia and Indonesia leading the expansion.
“The response this year is a clear signal that the industry is eager to participate in transformation,” said event organiser Informa Markets Malaysia Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat.
“OGA can only grow in importance to bring together the solutions and ideas that will help shape tomorrow,” he said.
Major participants include EPIC Berhad, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, Ingersoll Rand, Honeywell International, and numerous local oil, gas and energy service companies under the Malaysian Oil, Gas and Energy Services Council pavilion.
The event features eight international pavilions alongside the popular SPEAK OGA knowledge exchange platform, which has attracted thousands of industry professionals over the past three years.
This year’s programming emphasizes diversity, equity and inclusion through partnerships with Malaysian Women in Energy and TalentCorp, including a three-day mentorship programme for young women entering the traditionally male-dominated sector.
A new Paper Competition, co-organised with Universiti Teknologi Petronas, will provide students’ opportunities to present research projects to industry representatives, strengthening academia-industry collaboration.
As Asean emerges as a global economic powerhouse, OGA 2025 positions itself as the definitive meeting point where policy-makers, industry leaders and innovators converge to shape Southeast Asia’s energy future in an increasingly sustainable and inclusive manner.
