La Roche-Posay’s new Effaclar Supramolecular range combines salicylic acid and niacinamide in a formula designed for oily skin and visible pores.
If your skin starts looking shiny before lunchtime and your pores seem to become more noticeable throughout the day, you’re probably familiar with the oily-skin struggle.
Now, La Roche-Posay is introducing a new addition to its Effaclar range that targets exactly that.
Launched in partnership with Watsons at Mid Valley Megamall, the new Effaclar Supramolecular range is designed for oily skin and enlarged pores, combining skincare science with a simple two-step routine.
At the centre of the range is La Roche-Posay’s patented Supramolecular SA.B3 Technology, which temporarily bonds salicylic acid and vitamin B3 (niacinamide) together.
Salicylic acid is commonly used to help tackle excess oil and unclog pores, while niacinamide is known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
According to Consultant Dermatologist Dr Shaaira Nasir, the technology is designed to help both ingredients work effectively while maintaining a gentle formula for the skin.
The range comes with two products.
First up is the Effaclar Supramolecular Cleanser, which helps remove excess oil, dirt and impurities while gently exfoliating the skin. According to the brand’s consumer study, 93% of participants agreed that their pores appeared less visible after four weeks.
The second step is the Effaclar Supramolecular Oil & Pores Correct, a gel moisturiser designed to visibly reduce the appearance of pores and control excess oil for up to 12 hours. The brand reports a 45% reduction in excess oil over that period.
And while oily skin is often discussed alongside acne, La Roche-Posay says the new range is intended for anyone dealing with shine, texture or visible pores, whether or not acne is part of the picture.
“Half the world has oily skin, but the conversation has only ever been about acne,” said Natalie Goh, Marketing Director, L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty Malaysia & Singapore.
The launch at Mid Valley Centre Court also featured dermatologist-led skincare education, a myth-busting panel with Dr Shaaira Nasir and an appearance by Thai actor-singer Perth Tanapon, marking his first appearance in Malaysia.
The Effaclar Supramolecular range is now available at Watsons, Big Pharmacy, Caring Pharmacy, Guardian, AEON Wellness, AA Pharmacy and Alpro.
