
LAHAD DATU: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) rescued a woman with specialties (OKU) who was trapped in flood at her house in Kampung Indah Jaya here.
Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Sumsoa Rashid, said his department received a distress call about the incident at 5.42am.
AdvertisementHe said seven Fire and Rescue personnel were deployed to the scene and found a disabled woman trapped in flood.
“The team carried the victim using a stretcher and evacuate her to her family’s house that was not affected by flood,” he said, adding that the operation ended at 6.52am.

Among the affected areas were Kg Indah Jaya, Kg Pancuran, Kg Damai, Batu 1 Jalan Segama, Kg Apau and Kg Simpang Sayur.
Advertisement Jalan Tengah Nipah, in areas near Puspakom office to Petron gas station and near Warung Bibik were also flooded, slowing traffic down.
The Puspakom office here also issued a notice following the temporary closure of operations due to the flash flood. The office also apologised for any inconveniences and will resume their operation today (Feb 11).
AdvertisementResidents in flood-prone areas were worried as rain continued for about three hours. Lahad Datu was among the districts hit by flash floods on January 29 till early this month.
The Civil Defence Force mobilise rescue teams to the flooded areas to monitor the situation and discovered that the water level in Sungai Jalan SM Cina was at the alert level.
“The team will carry out monitoring periodically in some high-risk areas if the rain continues.”
Three victims including a stage four kidney patient from Kampung Apau have been evacuated.
Members of the public were advised to always be vigilant and contact the authorities in the event of any emergencies.
