When I was young I thought I could never grow old. Everyday was filled with fun, adventures and new experiences. No worries about food, shelter, income.
Not until when I reached adulthood. When reality sets in, qualifications, jobs, survival , did I realized that life is not that easy.
Now reaching ‘ senior citizen' stage, - all my teeth have been replaced by dentures; regular doctor visits and constant medication from KKM, how to kill time, new challenges starts to besieged me.
Age is catching up. Last chapter of life. Starting to use ‘ hair blackening’ lotion every few weeks; sometimes try buying ‘hair growth’ lotion from Tik Tok ads, and more people calling me ‘Uncle’ or Ah Pek.
In a blink of an eye, 70 years passed quickly and suddenly I find myself attending funerals of ex-school mates and work colleague. One by one are ‘kicking the bucket’
What's left in life for me? When is my turn?
It's a frightening thought that life actually is very short, but there are people out there who still think they are invincible.
People in their 70's, still think they can control the world.
Fighting for political power, calling the shot, waging wars, causing inflation and sufferings all over the world.
Been through the thick and thin, highs and lows, of life. Struggles, heartaches and headaches,
Being through tumultuous paths. Teenage, adulthood, marriage, love- hate relationships father, grandpa.
Encountered countless challenges. Survived some fatal life- death experiences. With all that - Thank God- I'm still alive!
Join me in celebrating life. Grab a guitar, learn piano, sing with a bunch of old friends in the Karaoke joints, or, like me,- have a ‘Jam Session’ or Dance Party with old mates.
Be it ballads, hip hop, rock & roll, Boogie Woogie. Shake. Twist and Shout.
Until then, enjoy the short life you have now before ‘ kicking the bucket’
