Martyrdom is inevitable it may seem for the man who refused to mince his words and is now facing a flurry of brickbats from those who he has picked quarrels with from the time he came to power.

Just after he was arrested at an unearthly hour and then taken to court to be charged, the Government had begun their witch hunt to find ways and means to bury him alive.

An investigation of a complaint reported in January 2023 by Kedah Umno regarding the mining of rare earth elements had suddenly found a second wind and was reopened.

The CEO of a company and a director of Mentri Besar Inc (MBI) were remanded by the MACC in Kedah immediately after Sanusi was charged in court.

The remand was regarding allegations of abuse of power involving a Chief Minister, in an issue of mining rare earth elements illegally and creating losses for the state.

Sources quoted that "mining activities carried out illegally have received protection from certain authorities since 2020.

Before the Peninsular became ‘Tanah Melayu’ and then went on to become Malaysia, it was called The Golden Chersonese, named by Claudius Ptolemy in his 2nd-century Geography.

Recently, in 2023, the 14th Menteri Besar of Kedah made claims to the Penang state stating it was under the Sultanate of Kedah.

The BA laureate from the University of Science Malaysia, in his late forties has been busy studying the pre-independence history of the country to make this geographical claim.

What’s the bet that the Government is seriously considering the claim and he would possibly be the chosen Chief Minister of the amalgamated state of Kedah and Penang?

Sir Francis Light, in 1978, established Penang Island as a trading post by cutting a deal with the Malay Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Adilin II who was the ruler of Kedah in exchange for protection from the Siamese and Burmese threats on Kedah.

The deal went bust and the Sultan of Kedah attacked the British for non-compliance with the agreement but he was defeated.

As a gesture of peace, Francis Light promised to pay 6,000 Spanish dollars annually to a crestfallen Sultan.

After two centuries, this is still practised, whereby a sum of RM18,800, is paid to the Sultanate of Kedah every year.

Dato' Seri Haji Muhammad Sanusi bin Md Nor, represents PAS and is an assemblyman of Jeneri Kedah holding portfolios of Chief Minister and director of elections for PAS.

This article has nothing to do with History or Geography but is about the political humour that the country is naturally resourced with.

A serious contender to LAT and Zunar the cartoonists who make us laugh describing everything through print but this guy is always live via hot news either saying or doing something.

Some of the people who have been chosen to represent the people make great stand-up comedians and this is the story of one of them.

After taking over the reins from Mukriz Mahathir as the 14 Chief Minister in 2020, his tenure has been sensationalised by a run of political gaffes, scandals, and bizarre claims straining the relationship with the federal government and the other states.

His latest A.I. Mouthed comment landed him in court.

That too only after a dramatic event of getting the Police and the Government ridiculed by dignitaries and the public in the manner in which he was made to attend court.

Controversies and Issues Attributed to the 14th Menteri Besar of Kedah

  • Rare-earth metal deposits, the MB announced that his state would be prospecting and mining RM 43 trillion worth of such deposits. Upon the nation’s realisation that the worth was only 63 billion and not 43 trillion which was several zeroes more than reported, a Hindu temple was demolished under his instructions and called for the ban of MIC which was a political ally and not a foe. Apparently, the political pundits say this was a tactic of stealth to a political ‘BOO BOO’ the dodgy dodges like ‘Wag the dog’ practised by PAS.
  • Racism incidents, Alcoholism.

When asked to apologize to the Indian community for his derogatory remark of linking them to alcoholism he ‘wagged the dog’ again to accuse them of jumping the gun as though they were drunk drinking on three bottles of Toddy even though they only had one.

The DAP and MIC were not bothered when structures belonging to Malays were demolished (No examples were cited) but only showed their concern when temples were.

Hindu temples which were built during the colonial era were facing demolition due to land sales and transfers decades later without any compromise.

They are therefore used as ammunition by insensitively irresponsible people in power for political gains or to ‘wag the dog’.

Such was the fate of the demolished Sri Madurai Veeran temple in Alor Setar by the motor-mouthed MB who neither apologized for his statement nor did he stop temple demolition works even after requests from his allies.

“Pemain yang sama yang bermain dengan Kedah pada musim lepas dikekalkan. Yang top, top tu lah. Dua awang hitam tu lah. Sekejap nanti orang kata saya hina orang pulak tapi depa memang hitam pun.” These were uttered by a statesman who was the state of the art in being ruthlessly lavish with an uncanny sense of insensitivity, racialism, unprofessionalism, and a disintegrator of national unity & harmony.

Using Covid-19 as an opportunity to prevent the minority Hindus from celebrating Thaipusam, an auspicious day by declaring it a non-holiday came under heavy criticism from the public. A spokesperson from MCA asked Sanusi "Why cancel the Thaipusam public holiday?

Cancelling the celebration and cancelling the public holiday are two very different things by definition“.

Would the independence day holiday also be cancelled in the state for the same reason? Summing up, he said that it was evident that the Chief Minister disrespected the rights of the other races in the country.

  • Kedah’s top man frequently uses his mouth as a sock instead of wearing a pair purchased from a mall on his feet like normal people do.

He had during a press conference exercised his flippant humour by asking the public to book a container for their funeral during the height of depression of the pandemic.

Unable to take public criticism he ordered the arrest of three individuals who publically responded to his appalling humour and decried his twisted joke on social media.

A senior citizen was arrested in Negri Sembilan over a viral video which allegedly insulted Sanusi.

The 61-year-old was taken to Sg Petani to be detained after a police report was lodged. Subsequently, three more people were arrested for allegedly insulting Sanusi over his " freezer joke".

They arrested a 45-year-old in Mergong Perdana and a 52-year-old in Kepala Batas.

An IT analyst was the fourth detained on the same charge but he was avenged by his wife who posted a private message on the Chief Minister’s FB fan page.

She said “I feel that you don’t need to be a Chief Minister if you cannot take criticism, better you just sit down and look through FB comments all day,” she lambasted.

4-digit gambling licences were discontinued in the state of Kedah by Sanusi’s directive which he said was to curb its ills.

He wanted Kedah to be free of gambling which is one cause of the destruction of families through debts.

He stated that the non-muslims profited from the sales and if Kedahans still wanted to gamble they should go to the next state which was Penang.

Expressing deep concern when in heaven about what he would tell his maker or ‘Allah’ when questioned about why he allowed gambling.

Such a move has only profited the illegal lottery syndicates who have been thriving in Kelantan and Terengganu and now in Kedah a God-given opportunity.

“Hebatnya Sultan Kedah ni, bukan koman koman. Sultan tara tu angpa bayang, hang

tengok Menteri (Besaq) la ni. Sultan hebat lagu tu tak akan pilih Menteri Besaq cokia

macam Amir tu. Inci pun tak berapa cukup.”

Translation: How amazing the Sultan of Kedah is, not an ordinary (entity/power). Can

you just imagine the great Sultan, seeing the current Mentri Besar (me)? The great

Sultan (Kedah) like that won't elect a useless Mentri Besar just like Amir (Amirudin

Shari). He's unfit for duties.

His final comment had hit squarely on the head and on the last nail driven into a political coffin.

He has given the vultures a royal opportunity to tear him apart now, which would mean the beginning of his end.

But not unless he can talk his way out of it once again.
