The sportier version of the newly previewed Omoda 4 crossover, the Omoda 4 Ultra, has just made its global preview debut at the ongoing Omoda & Jaecoo International User Summit 2025 in Wuhu, China.

The Ultra separates itself from the standard O4 thanks to its sporty aerokit, which includes an extended front splitter, sportier side skirts, carbon fibre side mirror caps, an aggressive rear wing, and a sportier rear diffuser.

Not to forget, the Ultra also comes in a special Electro Yellow exterior colourway, while rolling on new 19-inch alloy rims with yellow-hued brake callipers hiding beneath them.

And just like the standard O4, the O4 Ultra comes with a sporty cabin setup with gaming-inspired layout and design elements. Here, the Ultra still gets the same bits and pieces as its standard twin, including the jet fighter-style ignition button on the central console, a large portrait-oriented infotainment screen with a slim digital metre cluster, sporty front seats with hexagonal quilt inserts, ambient lights, a full panoramic glass roof, and many more.

One new function for the O4 Ultra is the ‘Performance Sound’ mode, which is essentially an EV-style synthetic soundtrack that plays every time you accelerate the car in the Sport driving mode.

Speaking of driving, we’re finally getting some details regarding the powertrain setup for the O4, although this falls specifically for the Ultra model, at least for now. Powering the O4 Ultra is Omoda & Jaecoo’s own Super Hybrid System (SHS), which features a combustion engine rated at 143 PS and 215 Nm that is mated to a single electric motor delivering 204 PS and 310 Nm.

Performance figures for this sporty crossover include a 0-100 km/h time of 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h.

While O&J didn’t specify which hybrid system the O4 Ultra uses, the figures above indicate that this crossover runs on the brand’s parallel hybrid (HEV) system, which is also used on both the Omoda C5 HEV and the new Jaecoo J5 HEV. This setup features a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine as its core, which combines with the electric motor to deliver a comprehensive range of up to 1,000 km, the automaker claims.

And similar to the standard O4, the sporty Omoda 4 Ultra will also make its global market debut later in 2026, where it is touted to become O&J’s sportiest model to date. Would you be keen to see the O4 Ultra coming into the Malaysian market, where it will go against many popular Japanese B-segment hybrid SUVs?
