Chery International Group has strengthened its position on the world stage, becoming the first Chinese carmaker to export more than five million vehicles. At the heart of this success is Omoda | Jaecoo, now recognised as one of the fastest-growing automotive brands globally.

Launched just over two years ago, Omoda | Jaecoo has already delivered more than 570,000 vehicles to 44 markets, contributing 37% of Chery International’s total exports. It is also the fastest new brand to pass the half-million sales milestone worldwide.

The brand is making big strides in the new energy vehicle (NEV) space. In Q1 2025, NEV sales jumped 460% year-on-year to 13,023 units, with NEV’s making up 40% of total exports in the first half of the year.

Its momentum is clear in Europe too, where Omoda | Jaecoo has become the fastest-growing Chinese car brand and the first to sell more than 10,000 units in Spain in under a year.

In Malaysia, the growth story has been just as rapid. Since the Jaecoo J7 arrived in July 2024, the line-up has quickly expanded with the Omoda C9 in Dec, the J7 PHEV in Feb 2025 and the flagship J8 SUV in July 2025.

Within just 12 months, more than 17,000 vehicles from the group are now on Malaysian roads, securing a place among the country’s top five automotive brands and making it the most successful Chinese marque locally.

Next, Omoda | Jaecoo aims to strengthen its foothold with the upcoming launch of the Omoda C9 PHEV and more importantly its mass-market entry, the Jaecoo J5. An electrified version, the E5, which was recently introduced in the UK, could follow soon after.

Looking ahead, Malaysia will take on an even bigger role as Omoda | Jaecoo’s right-hand-drive hub, spearheading further expansion into ASEAN, Europe and South America.
