  • A massive explosion caused by a fuel tanker truck under the Bridge of the Americas in Panama has resulted in one fatality and two injuries.
  • The incident led to the temporary closure of the vital 5,400ft road bridge, which spans the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal.
  • More than 75 firefighting units and 45 vehicles were deployed to tackle the blaze, which engulfed part of the bridge.
  • One worker, presumed to be operating near the truck, died in the fire, while two firefighters sustained minor injuries during the response.
  • A logistics corridor was reopened hours later, and Panama Canal operations continued as normal, despite the temporary disruption to the bridge.
