One dead, three injured in early morning Putatan crash

PUTATAN: A road accident involving a Perodua Alza and a Mitsubishi Triton early Thursday morning left one man dead and three others injured along the road behind Lok Kawi Camp here.

Firefighters from Putatan and Penampang rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 5.08am, arriving minutes later to find the Alza driver trapped in his seat.

The 31-year-old man was freed by rescuers but was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, while two of his passengers escaped with minor injuries.

The Triton driver, who was not trapped, suffered serious injuries and was given immediate treatment before being taken to Queen Elizabeth I Hospital along with the other survivors.

Firefighters later cleared the wreckage and ensured the area was safe before concluding operations at 6.40am.
