One killed as motorcycles collide in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: A 28-year-old local was killed in an accident involving two motorcycles at the junction of Kg Bangkarat, in Jalan Lahad Datu-Tungku, here, on Friday.

It was learnt that the victim was heading towards Tungku from Jalan Lahad Datu when the incident occurred at 10.30am.

District Acting Police Chief, Supt. Jimmy Panyau said, preliminary police investigation found the accident occurred when the victim’s Honda EX5 motorcycle was hit by another motorcycle (Yamaha R15).

“Following the accident, the victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Hospital by Ambulance.

“The victim was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at about 7.27am on Saturday,” he said.

According to Jimmy, further investigation is ongoing under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police urged those who witnessed the incident to contact Insp. Humaidi Harun at 089-881255 or came to the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters to assist in investigations.
