One killed, five injured in two-vehicle collision in Lahad Datu

ONE person was killed and five others injured in a collision involving two vehicles on Jalan Silam here on Saturday.

THE Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station chief, Sumsoa Rashid, said his department received an emergency call at 2.29 pm and dispatched a team to the scene.

“The accident involved a Toyota Fortuner and a Perodua Axia, which are believed to have collided head-on,” he said in a statement.

Five of the victims were travelling in the Toyota Fortuner. One of them was trapped inside the vehicle and was successfully extricated by firefighters before being sent to Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment.

However, a 50-year-old passenger in the Toyota Fortuner was pronounced dead at the scene and the body was handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police for further action.

Sumsoa said details regarding the driver of the Perodua Axia had yet to be obtained.

He added that the rescue operation was fully brought under control at 3.20 pm. - December 28, 2025
