Song One Man Woman by Paul Anka.

This song - ‘One-Man- Woman’ laments about a devoted, faithful woman crying out to her man to be faithful and be a One-Woman-Man.

The hidden message seems to imply that men are always unfaithful when it comes to women.

Is this true? Is infidelity part of Man's nature?

Let's find out from AI Claude.

AI answer is….. - both. Man and woman are equality susceptible to having multiple partners. It all depends on the willpower of the individual.

Are you a OMW (One-Man Woman) or a OWM( One -Woman-Man) ?

Do we still have couples committed to their marital vows till the end?

The kind that vowed to stay together in sickness or in health; for richness or poor, in adversity or prosperity, until ‘Death Do Us Apart’?

No cheating, no part-time lovers, no covert, no- ‘two timing Man'.?

Old School.

I look up to my grandparents and parents as great parental models. Back then most of their marriages were ‘ Arranged'

A matchmaker would be engaged by the man's parents to look for a wife. A ‘viewing of potential wife’ would be arranged in a kopitiam.

After that the man would decide. ( based on appearance only, no interaction,) If okay, the parents of both man and woman would fix the wedding date.

I remember attending one such matchmaking session many years ago. My friend, Ah Hooi, was inside the kopitiam together with the matchmaker and the girl. He gave the ‘Yes’ signal by rubbing his nose and pretended to drink his kopi-O. The matchmaker got the signal and the marriage was fixed. Their marriage lasted till today.

Such marriages just based on matchmaking could endure hardships and raised children and the next generation.

Amazing isn't it? How come it's so difficult today?

Today those ‘ old school’ marriages are gone. Instead we have:

  • same- sex marriage,
  • late marriage,
  • no marriage,
  • marriage with agreement of no children.
  • Trail marriage
  • Marriages ending in divorces.

What are the reasons for this change? Here's why;

  1. Higher expectations for fulfillment.
  2. Financial Independence
  3. Communication Breakdown & Constant Conflicts.
  4. Infidelity & Breaches of Trust
  5. Financial Stress & Differing Money Values

How to be a OWM or OMW.

It's is not easy. It takes true love and a lot of commitment.

No or Yes we do still have ‘ true love' or the OWM or OMW . A good example is the marriage of Dolly Parton.

See link below on Dolly Parton's marriage to Carl Dean in 1966.

'He has been the love of my life and the life of my love.”. said Dolly Parton.

Their marriage lasted 60 years until Carl passed on in 2025. And they have no children.

What an exemplary demonstration of true love.

Long lasting marriage.

As people grow older, beauty changes, fortunes rise and fall, infatuation fades, and circumstances evolve. What remains is character.

To be a OMW or OWM is not merely to avoid infidelity; it is to embrace a discipline of presence, a depth of emotional investment, and a conscious rejection of a culture of disposability.

Challenges to be a OWM or OMW.

  • Dating apps present endless alternatives at a swipe;
  • social media keeps former partners and potential temptations perpetually in view;
  • workplace and social circles blur boundaries that were once clearer.
  • Status change. Fame and fortune.

What makes a OWM or OMW.

  • A one-woman-man understands that true love begins where infatuation ends.
  • He recognizes that commitment is not sustained by feelings alone but by daily acts of faithfulness, sacrifice, and respect.
  • His loyalty is not tested when everything is easy; it is proven when life becomes difficult.
  • Saying no to flirtations,
  • He chooses honesty over deception, perseverance over abandonment, and reconciliation over resentment.
  • He sees his partner not as a possession but as a companion on life's journey.
  • Choosing her again and again, despite life's challenges and despite the countless alternatives the world presents.
  • A OWM or OMW understands that lasting love is built not upon youthful attraction alone but upon trust, shared memories, mutual respect, and companionship.
  • In a world of endless choices, his greatest strength lies in making one choice and honoring it for a lifetime.

Conclusion.

It's easier said than done. It takes two to clap. Virtues are not easy to keep. It requires 100% commitment and undying loyalty to each other to be a One-Woman-Man or One-Man- Woman.
