KUALA LUMPUR – One million union members will soon enjoy discounts of up to 30% on essentials, thanks to the newly launched Madani Workers’ Card.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim unveiled the initiative during his Labour Day 2025 address at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil today.

"The Madani Workers’ Card will provide discounts to the holders. This is in appreciation of workers for their hard work in carrying out their duties and trust," he said.

Over 100 companies are on board, including AEON, Mydin, Jakel, Marrybrown, Genting, Old Town White Coffee, ZUS Coffee, SOCAR, and Bateriku.

Further details on the card will be shared in a media statement soon.

The national-level Labour Day celebration saw a crowd of more than 10,000 workers from both the public and private sectors. Also in attendance were Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Human Resources Minister Steven Sim, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and other top officials.

Themed "Pekerja Kesuma Bangsa", this year’s celebration paid tribute to the nation’s workforce.

In his keynote speech, Anwar described workers as “the main catalyst in creating a great and competitive nation,” stressing the value of sincerity and commitment in building Malaysia’s future.

“No matter which sector – whether in factories, clinics, schools, or police stations – workers who hold on to the values of sincerity and faith in the country will definitely contribute to the formation of a great nation,” he said.

Anwar also urged Malaysians to reject racial and political divisions that hinder progress.

“Every day we read news about racial disputes, but this will not take us anywhere. On the contrary, understanding, unity and the spirit of togetherness between people of various races are the keys to taking the country towards greater progress,” he said.

He reaffirmed the Madani government’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity and welfare of all workers, regardless of race, religion or background.

The prime minister also launched the MyFutureJobs mobile app, aimed at enhancing job matching for Malaysians.
