ABOUT one in three Filipinos want both President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte removed from office, according to the latest non-commissioned survey by market research firm Tangere.
The survey found that 33 percent of respondents, many of whom were former supporters of the Marcos-Duterte “UniTeam,” support the impeachment of both officials. Tangere said these respondents expressed disillusionment over the growing political rift between the president and the vice president.
If both positions were to become vacant, more than half of those respondents said they would prefer former vice president Leni Robredo to serve as caretaker, while about a quarter favored San Miguel Corp. chairman and chief executive officer Ramon Ang.
The survey showed stronger support for the impeachment of President Marcos compared with Vice President Duterte. About 68 percent of respondents said they support moves to impeach the president, while 42 percent expressed support for Duterte’s impeachment.
Support for the president’s impeachment was highest in Mindanao and among voters who backed Vice President Duterte in the 2022 elections. While Marcos retained relatively stable support in Northern and Central Luzon, dissatisfaction and calls for his removal were most pronounced in Mindanao, the survey said.
In contrast, calls to impeach Vice President Duterte were concentrated in Southern Luzon, Northern Luzon, and Central Luzon. Tangere said support for Duterte’s impeachment largely came from voter blocs that supported either Marcos or Robredo in the last presidential election.
The survey also found that if Vice President Duterte were removed from office, more than half of respondents believe President Marcos should appoint Robredo as her successor.
The Tangere survey was conducted from Jan. 14 to 16, 2026, using a mobile-based respondent application. It covered 1,200 participants nationwide and has a margin of error of ±2.77 percent at a 95-percent confidence level. Respondents were selected through stratified random sampling, with regional distribution at 12 percent from the National Capital Region, 23 percent from Northern Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from the Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.

On Tuesday, the vice president said she believes that the impeachment case that would be filed against her is a “fundraising activity” by the members of the House of Representatives as the anniversary of her first impeachment case nears.
Her impeachment, the fourth one filed at the House, passed Feb. 6, 2025 after it was signed by 281 members of the House and was transmitted to the Senate immediately.
Among the articles of impeachment against Duterte were graft and corruption, bribery, culpable violation of the constitution, and betrayal of public trust.
In an interview with supporters outside The Hague, Netherlands, where she is visiting her jailed father, Duterte said she expects an impeachment case would be filed against her a year after that case.
“We know its going to happen. As expected, it would be like the previous fundraising of members of the House of Representatives. It is all about the money,” Duterte said.
She, however, did not comment on the impeachment complaint filed against President Marcos.
Her elder brother, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte, had earlier said that the impeachment cases against the vice president are being rushed by a “supermajority” who are being controlled by someone on high.
