In his FB post, chastising his party member for her post on her FB that he deemed it as “celebratory”, Ong said her actions could lead BN to seek closer cooperation with Perikatan Nasional in the run-up to the next election, to the detriment of PH and its supporters.
He is obviously playing up the fears of the voters, especially the non Malays who has developed a `phobia’ for PN due to the presence of PAS in the coalition.
Is he positioning himself and the party he represents, as protectors and make voters grateful for their professed desire to safeguard the voters’ interests?
Or he is helping his political party to divert attention from the party's clear shortcomings especially in improving living standards of all ordinary Malaysians?
Or he is playing the role of a rabble- rouser with his if you don't vote for my party or PH, something bad is going to happen.
He is well aware, when fearful, people tend to become more trusting toward authorities and "rally around the flag," accepting the status quo or risk-averse choices suggested by the leadership.
Probably he still couldn’t accept or understand the reasons why voters in Sabah rejected political parties from Semenanjung in the recent elections in Sabah.
Voters now recognize the pattern of politicians in Semenanjung.
And for sure, in the next GE, voters will scrutinise every candidates and not be swayed by sweet talk during the campaign period as voters now knows that all the candidates regardless of which political party they represent, will promise us the sky, moon and stars when they want our votes.
And in Sabah, on paper, it appears that they have demonstrated political maturity by rejecting politics based on hatred, racial provocation, and fear-mongering generally practised and used widely by political parties in Semenanjung.
Voters now are well aware that regardless of whoever forms and govern the country, the ordinary rakyat will still have to eke out a living while the politicians will be having the time of their lives.
It is never about benefitting the ordinary rakyat.
It is how the politicians benefit from the votes of the voters.
And all and every politician uses this: fear, fear and fear.
Hopefully one day when the ordinary rakyat renders this tool called "fear" useless, their lives will change in this country.
