
LABUAN: Chambers of commerce here are alarmed over the Unity Government’s measures for the island’s struggling economy despite claims of doing its best.
The Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce said the latest Customs ruling allowing tourists to take out of the island only four cans of beer and the exceeding quantity to be taxed was the latest example.
“There is a case of someone who purchased a crate (24 cans) and wanted to bring it back via the ferry terminal to the mainland for a family event and was taxed RM105 for the extra 20 cans.
