
Kota Kinabalu: Two individuals – one from 1930 until leaving Sabah in 1952 and the other long after independence through the formation of Malaysia – were largely responsible for creating and/or expanding the State’s forest cover, something not known to be done in other states in Malaysia.
“In fact in other states in Malaysia, one is more prone to hear of forests being degazetted for agriculture and development but without being replaced.
“Which is why Sabah today has one of the largest acreages under various classifications of forests or well over 50 to 60 per cent of the total land area,” said Daily Express Chief Editor, James Sarda, JP.
