
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte was the only vice president and Education secretary audited by the Commission on Audits (COA) for the use of confidential funds, a former state auditor said Monday.
During the 11th day of Duterte's impeachment trial, witness Roderick Wamil, who served as state auditor of the COA on Audit - Intelligence and Confidential Funds Office, said Duterte's predecessors, former vice presidents Jejomar Binay and Leni Robredo "did not have appropriations for confidential funds."
"Since I assumed office in 2014, the only person I have audited who had confidential funds is Vice President Sara Duterte," said Wamil.
Wamil also confirmed that Duterte was the only secretary of the Department of Education he audited because former secretaries during did not have confidential funds.
He said the ICFAO audited P500 million of the OVP's confidential funds and P112.5 million of DepEd funds under Duterte from 2014 to 2024.
