SHAH ALAM, Sept 19 - Air quality has improved slightly in Selangor this evening, with only Shah Alam recording an unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading as of 5pm.
According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, Shah Alam had an API reading of 153, while five other locations recorded moderate readings, namely Petaling Jaya (99), Johan Setia (98), Klang (81), Kuala Selangor (80) and Banting (77).
Serian in Sarawak recorded the highest API reading nationwide at 178, followed by Kuching, Sarawak (173), Sri Aman, Sarawak (169), Samarahan (164), Seri Manjung, Perak (158) and Larkin, Johor.
A total of 16 monitoring stations recorded unhealthy air quality, while 40 had moderate readings and 11 showed good API levels.
An API reading of 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and above 300 is hazardous.
Authorities have advised the people to limit prolonged outdoor activities and be alert to API updates.
